Just my 2c, but you could dedicate whole issues to certain characters (ie. of course Screamer but also Shockwave (Banished to Cybertron or posessor of more tactical know-how than Megs?) Wheeljack (Inventor extraordinaire or bumbling idiot?) & plenty more...
