I only collect the MP line now with maybe a smattering from the new lines, I will myself be shortly culling my collection to only keep the lines I really like
G1 and BW are a stayer as the former was the start and the latter re-excited my interest in the TF line. The movies and movie lines did exactly the opposite to the point once I go through my collection I will more than likely get rid of these first but that's a little way off

After G2 and through my teen years I didn't buy any figures. That was until 2001 Robots in Disguise. I remember being in Kmart and being blown away by the look of Sideburn so I picked him up. My wife had been buying me some of the Hasbro Masterpiece figures for Christmas. Then last year I decided to collect Masterpiece for real (including the exclusives) and I've been hooked. I have also bought the G1 Combiners in Combiner Wars but won't dabble in much else. Keeping focused will help to sustain the pursuit.

So I can't see myself quitting collecting barring money issues. I plan to pass my collection down to my children so would never sell them.

Oh I forgot to add that I've collected some of the movie figures but will likely dial that back a bit for future movies unless the toys are absolutely must haves.

Maybe I should. I was awake half the night last night after waking up from a dream. In the dream I was walking through a park on a visit to Melbourne and Hound and Jackpot walked past and told me about a sci-fi convention happening. Went to it, got lots of great stuff, and as I was walking out I checked my bag and instead of it being full of rare TF stuff it was full of little Star Wars figurines The shock took me from blissful slumber to wide-eyed alertness for the next few hours

Maybe it's time to move on

Good to hear I'm not the only one who has dreams like that! Every now and again I have such vivid dreams of finding rare TFs for a steal only to wake up and realise I don't actually have it. The disappointment fades fast but it hurts each time

Whenever I have those dreams, I always wake up just as I'm about to pay for them. The thing is, since around age 8, I always knew that they were dreams as they were happening, so I'd rush myself to try and finish the purchase so that I can open them and enjoy them before waking up... but alas, I never make it past the cash register.

I have slowed down considerably due to a few factors:

    - My collections is generally complete to my satisfaction.
    - There isn't much 'new' from official lines that interests me due to what I perceive as a considerable degrade of design and material quality.
    - Aside from MPs (which I still collect), none of the other collector lines seem to be worth the asking price or effort to purchase (Botcon, other exclusives).
    - Prices for official toys has become very expensive yet the toy themselves are less satisfying for the asking price.
    - Competitiion from 3P which are no longer looking as pricy compared to the now inflated official collector stuff yet 3Ps often provide superior material and design quality making them more satisfying.

I have cool dreams where I'm in movie (sometimes with Transformers). I never have nightmares. My wife usually has nightmares.

How do you know it's time to move on from Transformers collecting? When the characters you like lack the potential to be repainted/retooled into enough other characters that would warrant Hasbro producing the toys in the first place. Welcome to my world.

TRANSFORMERS: DEICIDE -- The Beast Wars 20th Anniversary Comic Book series that could have been...
TRANSFORMERS: UNITY -- the BotCon 2016 Comic Book that should have been...
