Agreed 100%. You'd think they'd find someone less overwhelmingly emphatic and sycophantic.

There are already several sports that were developed from martial arts, such as:
    + Wrestling
    + Judo
    + Taekwondo
    + Archery
    + Fencing
+ Javelin (part of Modern Pentathlon)
    + Boxing

Yeah but I can't stand the "Olympic Versions" of those sports...

Freestyle & Greco-Roman wrestling? Puh-leese... No wonder Kurt Angle gave it up first opportunity he had...

Amateur boxing? WTF!? I know boxing these days is fixed as but I'd still much rather watch Lennox Lewis & Holyfield slug it out one more time rather than watching Felix Savon knock out some wannabe...

(I wonder why Savon never turned pro? If you were a boxer, Would you rather be an Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion or an Olympic Gold Medallist? Which title has more acclaim in the boxing world... It wouldn't be that hard to figure it out... )

Did anyone else catch Bruce McAveney claiming during the opening ceremony that Liberia has the _only_ female head of state?

DD, there are also female monarchs in Denmark & The Netherlands.

As well as Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Cook Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, United Kingdom (& colonies), who all share our head of state.

Ireland, Finland, the Philippines, Switzerland, Chile, India & Argentina also have (elected) female heads of state.

Oh, and Merkel isn't actually the head of state, just head of government
