The marketing team at Nintendo failed the wii u. Many people who have seen mine thought it was just a new handheld attachment for the old wii. Others had no idea what it was as they had not rally seen anything about it in any stores.

If Nintendo had spent some money marketing the wii u properly, sales would have been better, and they would have been far better if there were some halfway decent launch games. the one "must own" game per 6 months is not a viable strategy. There are other great games on the system, but only mariokart has the large "grab" audience at the moment.

I had similar reactions from people who notice my pad on the charger. However they can ID the Wii remote and white accessories associated like remote driving wheel so it tells you that there is a disconnection.

Wii U is the best next gen system for me easily, I dislike the cinematic trash that makes up the bulk of 'AAA' console releases, and I have a PC that runs games comfortably from 60fps to 120+fps. I'll get a ps4 if it gets close the the ps3 level of interesting niche games & exclusives, but if the biggest draws currently being Destiny and a friggin' re-release of Last of Us? I'll be waiting a while...

As far as the boner? hah, nope.

...I still can't see any need to buy a ps4 yet and I never would buy an Xbone..any respect I had for microsoft's console if I had any went out the window after all that crap they pulled at the announcement with all the DRM etc.. the thing is, Nintendo are the only ones that have true AAA exclusives. Almost all the exclusives that were announced for ps4 or xbone you can get on pc usually with waaaaay better visuals on the graphics. So what is the point of buying a seemingly lackluster machine that you can get the exact same games for on pc? Save up a few more extra months and have a beast of a machine that can play games to their full potential I say. That's just my opinion. But the Wii U can stay right where it is in my lounge as long as they keep tossing up those awesome titles. But, they really need to do something about the non-dvd/blue ray. I was using my ps3 until it died

Generally speaking, I would agree. The 'Cinematic' stuff is pretty redundant. However I am mostly looking at it from general perspective and value for money as that's what probably most people look for.

The Wii U is a gaming machine and that is fair enough. Unfortunately it still falls short on some of those related angles like sound.

Basically, what would help the Wii U succeed and take its place as a noted contender in the Next Gen console wars. As it is now, it is just on the side.

This GOT meme rings true now more than ever:
