Default Armada Scavenger - perished treads

Well, it's finally happened. After 12 years, and after being stored for about a year, the treads on Armada Scavenger have cracked, split and fallen apart. I still have all the pieces, but I'm realising that the possibility of returning them to even a visually acceptable state are pretty much nil.

I'm certain I'm not the only one here who's experienced this - has anyone else found a solution? I'm toying with making some new treads out of black leather; they won't look quite the same, but they will certainly remain supple far longer than any rubber treads.

I don't own an Armada Scavenger but I reckon some of the treads from recentish lego sets may actually fit quite well. They are also quite high quality. You might need a bit of modification and stitching though.

    Check out these guys:

Generally speaking the Ninjago and Chima themes seem to have a lot of sets that use treads
