Default Universe Silverbolt - kelvinchang99 WIP

Okay.. here is another project I started.. Doing this whilst waiting for Powerglide to dry for the alt mode pics.

Next up is the obvious Silverbolt.

This one is really at initial WIP, as there are alot of work still needs to go into it.

Only the body first coat and priming and base coat for the white have gone on. This figure will end up like snow white, particularly in ship mode.

Here are the basis of what I am repainting this on.

    G1 Toon:

    WIP:

Here are the work still to do:

Whiten all grey area. Repaint the gold to be bumblebee yellow or gold. Repaint the orange on upper arm and elbow to Yellow, second red tone on the chest plates and wheels, white alt mode plane... and detailing.

    Okay, thats all tonight.

If anyone has suggestion on the gold bits to be bumblebee yellow or gold, I would appreciate your feedback.

    Hope you enjoy these.

Cool you have made him very similar to the Takara version.

I wonder why Hasbro didn't make the Gray more like the G1 toy? It would have cost them nothing to do so.

So far so good, changing the red to yellow will take a couple of coats of white paint...

You use the Tamiya paints don't you KC? Because there is a nice flat darker yellow that Games Workshops have that is close to what I think you are after.

    Looking Good!

There sure aren't alot of cartoon pics of Silverbolt out there at all...

    From this one:

The yellow on him appears to be pretty flat in colour so if you go in that direction, the white/yellow may seem a little pale in contrast to the red

If I were you, I'd go with the Bumblebee-shade of yellow...

& I just found this pic too:

Why is he light grey? (maybe he's standing in the shade... )

I didn't realise he was so far off from G1. I guess I've only seen him briefly but all my recollections were that he was fairly G1 in colour scheme. Well he is but he isn't as much as i thought he'd be.

    Nice work, Kelvin!

Silverbolt has always been an off white, Pulse. Which doesn't explain why the Classics one is light blue..

As for why he _isn't_ white, kup... apparently Hasbro try to avoid having two toys of the same colour in the same class on sale side by side. Since Powerbreast is white... Silverbolt gets blue. The irony is that in their quest to create a more "realistic" Powerbreast, they've made Silverbolt _less_ realistic. And messed up both tributes. Sigh.

    Default Some updates...

    Hi guys,

Some updates on this. The bot body is coming together... started the plane repaint. That needs to wait for several coats and the paint to dry. Tried the bumblebee yellow on arm and I think it turned out alright.

    Thats all for tonight.
