Welcome. Former Townsvillian here also. Back in the 80's I used to get my Transformers at the Toyworld on Charters Towers Rd... is it still there? Man I wish I had the ability to pay for my own Transformers back then... my G1 collection would be sweeeeet.

It's a Toys R Us now, you can still see the old Toyworld sign on one of the inside walls, there is a big Toyworld out near "The Lakes" McDonalds.
