Skypothetical Question. Just One Year.
Mephisto from Marvel Comics has stolen all your Transformers. And he's cast a spell on you so you can never again buy or be given any other Transformers. Yes, it's sad, but as consolation he will give you just one year's worth of Transformers. And that's it. (By year, Mephisto means the Transformers who were *first* released in that year, so if you picked 1985, for example, you'd get the 'second year' toys - i.e. Jetfire would be in your haul, but not Megatron. 1986 includes the Predacons, but not the Dinobots. And so on.) You can turn down his offer, which means you can never again have any Transformers, or you can accept it and have just one year.
For me it would be 1988. I could be happy with just the 1988 toys and nothing else. Just the Powermasters, small Headmasters, first year Pretenders and Pretender Beasts, Double Targetmasters, Triggerbots and cons, Quickswitch, Seacons, Firecons and Sparkabots would be enough. But Mephisto is kind and adds the Japanese toys too, so that's Browning, Overlord, Metalhawk, Grand Maximus, Black Zarak (and various recolours of the US 1988 toys I'd already have.)
So if you could have all the Transformers from one year (but only one year – you can never have any other Transformers except those ones), which year would it be?
