From the pics trent, my impression is that this is more a play toy than a masterpiece. Anyway, this were my opinions of it as "first impressions".
To me 12,000jpy for a toy like this feels a bit high considering no licensing is really involved? Is also hard to say it is similiar size, it looks to me to be smaller and probably size of soundwave or so.
I guess you could argue that Bandai's hi metal Armoured valk is at 9,500jpy and is pretty small as well, but thats diecast involved.
Maybe the box will say more about the toy.
Retail is cheaper than MP Shockwave and i think it's likely a similar size (basing off box dimensions on TakaraTomyMall). Though they've been known to mess those up. I think it has a lot of paint apps by comparison, probably more parts... from the prototype pics, it doesn't appear to have diecast... though i'd say at least the feet or main body joints would be likely. I think it's a decent price.
I think the box will set the tone of the toy whether TT regards this as a premium toy.
Again just first impressions here I can always be wrong.
My first impressions are that it's cheaper than I thought it'd be.
Taking into consideration the complexity of the design, all those vehicles that combine with each other as well as making the big robot, I think it's not so bad at all.
I'm probably not going to buy it, but the style certainly has me interested. I love the 80s future design aesthetic, so I'll probably keep an eye on what else they do.

This was from February apparently, i only just saw it though:
Very nice imo. This Sunday I should have mine so expect piccies... here's hoping the quality holds up!
He doesn't seem to have sold too well though and doesn't seem to have many people interested. TT seem to have gone silent on it too with no hint of any other releases yet![]()
The grey one looks better imo.
I think is because of how TT has done the masterpiece line has people wondered about a quality toy product from this.
IMO it doesn't shout premium into people's faces and is one of those you will weigh up whether is worth paying that much for it.
I do want one myself, but it's a case of bad timing...I'm not sure how much longer I'll have a job here for, and if I pick it up and don't manage to sort a new job then it'll be money I need more urgently, plus another large-ish box for me to have to ship back to Oz.
For something that's not a priority so much as a 'that-looks-cool', it's a pass for now, and an "I-hope-I-find-a-cheap-second-hand-one-sometime" for the future.
I'm also a bit disappointed about the size - he's too small to work with my existing 'human'-y figures (mostly the Human Alliance scouts), or even the smaller Masterpiece scale. Fair enough, it works with the old Diaclone figures (and the cost would have been pretty horrible if it had been MP-compatible size), but it won't work with the Diaclone MP Ultra Magnus repaint.
Shame, 'cos it looks pretty cleverly-designed and fun.![]()
Nice review Kurdt. I saw this guy in a shop and was checking out the box. It did feel a bit light, and after whats been said about the size, I am a bit torn. I kind of want one, but avoided it because I thought he'd be too big. But now I know he wouldn't, I feel its a bit pricey.
Hopefully I can pick up a cheap one later.
I really want some diaclone pilots too. I do hope they continue on. If they started with a cheaper toy, I'd deffos be up for snaggin one!
