SS Sludge reached the release date noted by Amazon Australia, so my pre-order was processed... at the discounted price it was sitting at in the last week.

Retailers that didn't have pre-order listings for Legacy and Studio Series (like Kmart and BigW), or had the correct release dates (like JBHifi), have been selling them already... so I have asked Hasbro Australia to chase up those online sources that didn't release the June/July items as they were supposed to.
They still haven't fixed any of them yet. I gave them all the names and details, so I was hoping that they would be able to chase that up by the next day, and Amazon would have started processing the orders by the weekend. It's as if they don't want the brand to succeed and make money...

Yeah, but it has already made money for Hasbro. They've sold their stuff to the distributors and/or retailers, so the exact date it sells on a shelf doesn't matter so much to them, does it?

It does for new releases and old stock needing to move. Stores wont buy more stock if old stock remains

Yes, but it's because of this...

...and because some of the bigger retailers might have "stock on consignment", which means that they can send it back if they don't sell it, and only pay for what they kept. (keep in mind that big corporations like Hasbro and the national retailers, will often have 3-6 months payment terms... so if they don't sell most of the stock before they had to pay Hasbro for it, they could be allowed to send stock back before they even have to pay for it... and if Hasbro needs them as a customer, they will do whatever the major retailer wants)

So if the second wave was to do really poorly because a lot of us bought from another source who released it 6 weeks earlier, Amazon could end up sending back a lot of stock to Hasbro (who has to then sell it at a loss at somewhere like Reject Shop or TK Maxx), and, purchase less of the next few waves until they clear out the old stock (at a loss by heavily discounting it).

At least if a smaller retailer is stuck with the stock (like JB or EB), they are more likely to keep it and sell it off over the long term... and probably wouldn't have had a huge turnover of stock anyway.

Word back from Hasbro Australia is that they can't change the release dates on those Legacy wave 2 toys... there was something mentioned about a minimum window of release after retail stores, but that didn't make much sense, as we have several wave 2 toys released by Amazon, and they release products all the time that are at the same time or even before they hit retail stores.
I just think that Amazon has these automatic processing dates in the system and they don't want to spent the time checking on each one and changing them (they would probably have to check the release dates of thousands of products... so why not just leave it as it is).

Reject Shop is selling Kingdom Cores for $10. The one I visited in Carousel had Dracodon, Optimus, Soundwave and Starscream.

Toymate is selling Kingdom Cores for $9 currently.
