It really makes me itchy when I look into my MP collections and find some of the MP numbers are missing in the middle if I skip the diaclone model.

If you're excepting orderly and predictable releases, then you're collecting the wrong line. Sure there are a lot more MP releases than ever before, but you cant set your watch by them.
You just have to wait and see, we haven't even seen Grapple and all his and Inferno's repaints announced yet.
I don't care for the mp numbering. Beastwars has nothing to do with g1 masterpieces so they are that. I didn't buy this piece either and not that this is bad looking or anything.
As noted by others, just skip it. Imo I think TT is playing catch up with 3p, almost anything new by TT is already done by 3p. But oh well I am concluding my mp line. I have to remind myself I am done with MPs unless is a wanted list figure.
Have all who ordered from PC received this yet?
The TFwiki page explains why redecos are important for the brand. As others have mentioned, it helps to keep the cost of toys down. Why a Diaclone redeco? Uh... what other redeco did you have in mind? Killing Jar colours? That's just as obscure. With some figures there really isn't a whole lot of redeco potential.
And HasTak are getting good at planning redecos from the outset by gang moulding alternate parts together instead of going through the expense of retooling existing moulds, which can be quite restrictive as seen with the MP Coneheads (especially Dirge). The MP Nissans, Lambos etc. were concurrently gang-moulded together, allowing each one of them to have distinctive mould differences without needing to retrospectively retool the moulds. You can bet that MP Inferno has been gang moulded with MP Grapple components. All of this helps TakaraTOMY to release more figures and the redecos help to keep the cost down.
You'll notice that most of the toys that TakaraTOMY have already done as MPs are the ones with obvious redeco potentials. The next one would be Trailbreaker/Hoist, but beyond that the remaining Autobot Cars don't have well known redeco potential. Jazz? Mirage? Hound? Sunstreaker? Skids?Hound can be redecoed as MP Detritus, MP Skids as MP Quantum Operative Skids, Crosscut & Screech, and Jazz could be redecoed as MP Stepper. But what about Mirage and Sunstreaker? Beyond releasing them in their Diaclone colours with new identities, I can't think of what else you could do with those moulds (I think that Sunstreaker in his Diaclone police colours would be neat
).
And as others have said, you don't have to buy them all.

I have completist sickness that i dropped other TF lines to fund MP line only. Yeah it is weird how this diaclones go through the main line but i guess you cant display boxes by number as they have different sizes #another first world problem
Haha that is a whole other can of worms! At the moment I have my small boxes ordered by number on the top shelves of my Detolf cabinets. That works because they are pretty much all Autobots/Cars. But once you get to the large boxes I've just kept the Autobots separate to the Decepticons because I think it looks better than sticking strictly to a number based order.
