I'm going for Blu-ray, but I'm waiting for the 3D version - there's no release date for the 3D version as far as I know.

sort of off-topic but related...do any of you have the steelbook blu rays released late last year and/or the 'saga' blu ray box set? i'm just wondering about the differences in bonus features. from a review i read the 2011 and 2015 saga box sets have no difference and include a bonus disc but the steelbook ones are all individual and i don't know if they include everything or not, and if whatever they do include is also included in the saga box set.

Saga box set (either release) are the same, content wise. One disc per film, one bonus disc per trilogy, and a ninth disc of (more!) additional content.

The recent steelbooks are simply the movie discs, so the box set of all six is nine discs, and three more discs than the individual releases.

thanks! i guess i'm weighing up buying the 3 movies i want individually with less or no bonus stuff as opposed to a set of 6 with heaps of bonus stuff, but half of which i may not watch. even then i'm not sure if i should keep waiting and hoping they will release HD theatrical versions. one rumour suggested the film was permanently altered for special editions but people keep coming across unaltered film and can make the 'de-specialised' versions so who knows...

Buy the whole saga. The extra content on the three discs is fantastic quality and the ninth disc has an SNL skit with Kevin Spacey playing Christopher Walken in his 70s audition for Han Solo. Worth the price of admission alone.
