Oh I'll be annoyed if they pull something like that, probably as annoyed as I presently am that they've never done anything with her character since her creation.
Hehe, I laughed good at that one.
It is a weird series of coincidences regarding that relationship huh?
Agreed, it makes no sense at all - That would be a perfect opportunity for said Clone-Daughter; Personally, I simply want the next Doctor to be British - That's all.

ugh ... they're really being serious about it.
(Even though I shouldn't believe anything reported by The Sun)
Yeah, my wife and I loved her - she was awesome!
Did anyone see the Comedy Relief Doctor Who ep with Rowan Atkinson years ago? The doctor ends up as a woman at the end. Hilarious!

I personally wouldn't mind seeing the Doctor regenerate into a woman. Considering how regeneration works, there's absolutely no reason why it can't happen, and canonically at least one other Time Lord has changed genders between regenerations (The Corsair). It would arguably give the series a more science fiction element and help make the Doctor much more alien, because he is an alien. We have species on Earth that can change genders during their life cycles, why can't we see a sentient alien do this? It seems to be a massive genetic fluke that the Doctor seems to constantly regenerate into a Caucasian male. River Song demonstrated that one can change skin colour between regenerations.
Because it wouldn't be done for the purposes you mentioned, it would be done for simple attention seeking purposes and because "Moffatt likes to really shake DW up!"
Plus with accusations flying around that the show is sexist or racist because he's always been a Caucasian male, that's even more reason to not do it.
...yeah, I wouldn't like to see it done for those reasons. It should be done for more legitimate scifi reasons. Maybe make him an androgenous blue humanoid.
A female doctor would be good.
It would make a change from the 'damsel in distress' scenario (River Song helped with that a bit though).
Well, all my female friends that like the show have all at one point drooled over one or the other of the last 3 Doctors (mostly the first two) so maybe it's the boys turn. And it would certainly add an extra dimension to all these female companions that constantly flirt with the Doc or go in for the pash I mean considering the companions and the doc are different species, a little thing like being the same gender should just be a triviality!
