I just found out there is such thing as a mega pokestop in which you have to get a chain of 10 pokestops without using one you used previously.
It gives more items (6-9 compared to 3-4)and 100xp

Haha.... so cute
Which Magikarp to evlove? CP122 and spend a bit more dust to bring it up? or continue to try to find better ones?
CP133 HP-29 DUST-3000 Perfect:42-73%
CP122 HP-31 DUST-2200 Perfect:64-86%
If it isn't too hard to encounter Magikarps in your area, I would prefer to wait for a high level and aim to catch a much stronger one. At level 24 I came across cp150+ Magikarps about 10% of the time.
For rarer Pokemon, like my Bulbasaur, I went with a lower CP (about 70% of its max potential) but more perfect IV stats (~90%).

I know a couple of drains that spawns magikarps... but since I got over 400 candies, the drive to go look for them have diminished. A cp140 got away cause I didnt want to use the ultra balls.
I wouldn't power anything up until after it evolves. The move set the Pokemon has after it evolves might not be something you are happy with and you may regret having spent the star dust. At least after the Pokemon evolves, you can see the move set that it has and you can decide whether you are happy with the moves and then choose to either power it up or leave it be. (If that made sense)
The local council for the Glen Waverley (VIC) golf course has put up a sign post to warn Pokemon GO players to keep the f**k off the golf course. I'm paraphrasing btw.
