Are there any good spots to Pokemon hunt in Sydney?
My son is desperately after whatever the regional pokemon is down there and we'll be there next week so I'd like to ensure he gets one...

Zippo, you need another trip to HK... Dragonite has been spawning at least once a week right next to the pokestop attached to the hotel you stayed in North Point (although my husband says the rating/HP for them are always useless)... He had to evolve to get the good one he has.

    I'm staying in Chatswood.

Glad to hear the Kangaskahn is kind of common. The bird thing specific to Asia is quite hard to come by here. My son has only caught 2 since he started playing.

We don't need magicarp though... god - the less of them the better. We live next to the water here in HK so they spawn in our apartment ALL THE TIME! Gyarados is one of the most common pokemon in gyms here, along with dragonite.

My kids and hubby love the spots where 3 pokestops overlap. There's a spot in Victoria Park here in HK where you can't keep up with all the pokemon spawning if they all have lures on them (and thousands of people will just stand around there catching endless pokemon for hours)... and you tend to get semi-rare to rare pokemn from that spot every 10 minutes or so.

Aside from Taronga Zoo not planning to do the touristy stuff as I'm there to let my in-laws spend quality time with their grandchildren so generally we'll be hanging out in Chatswood and the 'burbs...

Do the shopping centres have pokestops in them? eg Toys R Us here have pokestops they intentionally lure so people will want to come linger in their store...

I have actually been looking at a "quick" trip across to Sydney just to be able to try and locate a few Pokemon I need, and of course the region exclusive.

Sadly accommodation costs way more than I want to pay!

Another HK trip just for Pokemon would be nice, but not for another year at least!!

Since we have finally had some decent weather, I have been hunting out Squirtle and Bulbasaur areas after work in order to gather more candies. On the way back from an average hunt tonight I stopped in the industrial area at "spawn time". As my map reloaded and I checked out the sightings area, I spotted a silhouette - Blastoise was in the area.
Managed to track him down and then spent an annoying 5 minutes throwing my best curved ultra balls at him. Somewhere around the 15th I finally caught my highest CP Pokemon and managed to cross one more off my list

It was also amazing watching all the cars come and stop right where Blastoise was .. this is normally a very quiet area and a place I have been to often. Somehow the word got out very quickly that Blastoise was there.

You sound like you DONT know about the webpages and apps that let you scan what's in an area and how long they have left....

I use them all the time, well that is until today when the two I knew of either stopped working or where only working at half capacity. There just isn't much locally to get excited over as what I am missing is very rare locally.

Circular Quay is a great place to go because there is almost always pokestops with lures on them near the wharf. Every time I went through there in a train while at work, caught dratini, magikarps, voltorbs, and plenty of other randoms

If you do the general tourist places, you'll get lots of water types, dratini and voltorbs. Opera house and botanical gardens are also fantastic places, helps you rack up the poke kilometres too.

I think from memory there is a cafe/restaurant you can sit at in Circular Quay just up towards the Opera House where you can hit 3 pokestops at once! Sit there for an hour and rack them up.
