That's about the same as it would have been last time around. The exchange rates in the last year have been unusually _good_ for importers like us, don't forget that. Yes, I know it sucks..

you'd be able to get Sunstorm at least. Don't see what's the big deal with Black megs anyway. (had 2 back in the day and sold them off cos i decided i didn't really like it anyway)

Does the Megatron Club certificate allow members to import Black G1 Megatron?

Just asking for others, I don't really want it either.
Which brings us to where we are today...

Wasn't Black Megs released before 9/11? Didn't 9/11 lead to stricter gun laws? (or was Port Arthur the catalyst for that?)

The permit allows for collecting replica firearms as part of a "MEGATRON TRANSFORMERS" collection. Which would mean the answer should be, "yes", although it hasn't been tested as such.

You're thinking of air travel safety, methinks. Howard went after the guns after Port Arthur, you're right about that bit.

It's to do with the tightening of replica gun laws early last year just before the release of MP-5.

    http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...2-1702,00.html

    Two primary reasons:
    1. Replicas being modified into actual working firearms. (Mainly airsoft type guns).
    2. An increase in the use of replica pistols in hold-ups and causing intimidation.

Given that Black Megatron is the correct size and the actual color of a real Walther P-35 it could prove more difficult to obtain than Masterpiece MP-5 Megtron.

I believe it's actually slightly smaller - but it's pretty close. At a glance - and and at the business end of the barrel - you wouldn't notice the difference. The laws are designed to make sure that people don't end up in that situation.

Yeah, Australian Customs only really started blitzing Megatron toys from last year. It wasn't so much a change to legislation - after all, I remember the original 1984 Megatron toy being recalled from shelves as it was illegal back then too. But before last year it was relatively much easier to import Megatrons.
