Arrow What is in and what is not - in this section

This whole section of the board is one big shade of grey, which is why it rarely gets monitored or moderated... until something is reported, or one of the Admins has a random inspection.

So what is allowed, and what is not?

Most stuff is allowed... as noted in the description for this section on the main table, because we aren't Hasbro - so unless they do a global crackdown, or demand that this site must remove all mention of unlicensed material, it can stay hidden in here out of their site (which is more for your benefit - I don't want to be like TFW and have items promoted proudly on news pages, as we don't have their traffic stats for Hasbro to look the other way when using their site to promote official news).

That being said... what is NOT allowed?

Direct or indirect promoting of mass-produced (more than 5 of a custom figure) replica reproductions (and up to 20% remoulding) of officially released Transformers toys (both identical/similar, and plausible* colourings) is prohibited on this site, through things like reviews, where to find them, and sales of such items.
(* plausible colourings are ones that may not have yet been released by Hasbro or TakaraTomy, but unless you are aware of EVERY official redeco, some people might think that it had been done at some stage - like "Japanese style" black redecos of toys that haven't been done in black yet - so this also prohibits sales of redeco replica items on this site that have a chance of coming out later officially, so that the fakes aren't preventing purchasing of legitimate items later, or eventually being sold off as those items, to people who don't know they are fakes)

Admittedly, original mould "3rd party" toys also get mistaken by some less informed collectors as being legit toys once they've changed hands a couple of times, particularly by young kids or their parents at collector fairs and conventions, or on private sale sites like ebay and gumtree, but at least with those items, you can prove to them that they aren't by Hasbro or TakaraTomy by pointing them to resources like TFwiki or TFU.info, and get them to find that particular toy to prove it is legit.
An oversized or reproduction toy with similar colours will still show up on those sites because the images don't show its actual size, or the minor details that most replica toys have that are slightly different to the real thing.
Those sorts of replica items are more likely to be mistaken as an official toy by someone who doesn't know that an unauthorised replication was produced, and as such, are prohibited here, so that our site isn't responsible for a new or young fan getting a fake that they thought was real.

Even if the topic here has "KO" or "replica" in the title, the toy itself won't have it printed on it, and once it is in circulation, it is hard to trust buying a real one, even to long time fans (like a lot of the Gen1 US & JP toys now, that even I wouldn't risk buying online anymore).

Commenting/reviewing bizarre-colour KOs is discouraged, but not prohibited (as long as you aren't encouraging people to buy them), as their discovery is often an amusement to long-time Transformers collectors, and they are less likely to be mistaken as being the real thing by collectors and sellers.

Now... if you have any queries or concern about your item, to see if it is okay to review or sell here, post its details here in this topic, and someone (hopefully objective) will let you know.

Is your definition of 'promotion' basically talking about it at all in any way?

You can talk about them if it is to help people identify the fakes from the real toys, but if the commentary in any way tries to paint the replica toy in a positive light (or looks like a regular review), that might inspire someone to hunt one down, that would be considered a promotion of the product.
I can't stop people buying them, because it is their choice when they see the item... but I don't want to have people here encouraging others to buy them.

Is it actually a KO of Astro Magnum, and not a real Astro Magnum?

I know that "Shackwave" was a legit toy released in the 80s after Transformers started (called Galactic Man), while Astro Magnum was the name of the pre-Transformers version of Shockwave before Hasbro got the license to produce it.

I remember having a "Shackwave" when I was young and didn't know it wasn't a Shockwave, but it didn't have any of the stickers of the Radio Shack toy, so was probably a KO as well. And there were a lot of them here... probably just as prolific as the Transformers Shockwave.

Am I right in thinking Shockwave was the only Early Original Series Transformers toy that was produced as a KO back then, at the same time as the legit figures?
Since it isn't really a KO of a Transformers toy (it's colour suggests that it is a KO of the Radio Shack Galactic Man toy), and isn't a modern day KO (which I loath), it shouldn't be a big deal selling it here... just do it in the Unauthorised TFs section.
