The redeco represents the elite 501st Legion in the Republic Army, the core group served under Anakin Skywalker. They were later to be known as "Vader's Fist" under the Empire. I like how the toy also has an entirely new head, so it's not just a straight repaint of the standard Clone Starfighter Transformer. The regular Clone Starfighter TF's head is modelled after the Phase II Clone Pilot helmet whereas the 501st Clone Starfighter's head is modelled after the Phase II Clone Trooper helmet with a visor similar to those worn by some Clone Captains with yellow Jai'galaar eyes painted on the crown (an ancient Mandalorian tradition).
