For me personally, my G1 collection is rather small. It's mostly limited to reissues, though I do have a handful of vintage G1 toys. I get really disappointed when I get most G1 toys. They are just so different from the cartoon model and I really want something that looks like what I saw on the show.

On the other hand the only G1 characters I'm missing from my CHUG collection are Junkheap and Scrapheap, which never got a toy in G1, and Artfire.

I have only a limited G1 collection. So considering that my classics collection is nearing completion, everything except Sky Lynx, Devastator, Bumblebee, Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak, Overkill, Rumble and Frenzy.

Metalhawk, Grearshot and Liokaiser for me. Hope to change that when I visit Japan in October

Added Electro to my list. Skipped this toy back in the mid 90s and given its GPS I'm certainly not game to buy one from the secondary market. Even if I were to receive one as a freebie I wouldn't be able to play with it, so the CHUG (Timelines) version gives me an Electro that I can actually handle without it falling apart in my hands.

Although correcting the misassembled torso was a pain in the sparse.

By accident more than design, most of my original collection is 84-85 toys, while most of my Generations toys emulate 86-88 toys. For the former it is due to my age (at the older end of most TF fans) and for the latter it is because of having sufficient spare cash during the Prime Wars era. However once I noticed this pattern it then influenced what I actively chose to buy from then on, and I think it works well stylistically.
