Default G1 Transformers just add imagination.

Ok, a slightly odd title for a thread, but the Kibble thread got me thinking about how as a child I used to imagine the fake kibble morphing into the alt mode.

In fact generally speaking I often imagined my TF's to look just as cool as they did in the artwork on the box, which is probably why I was always a sucker for TF's with good art. Also I always imagined my TF's to be much like they were in the comics and toon when I played with them, so for example Devestator was huge, and Ratchet had a head, a friend who I often played with was more straightforward and less susceptible to pretending that Astrotrain was big enough to transport the other Decepticons in shuttle mode. Of course when I played with my TF's the Decpeticons always had some evil scheme to be thwarted, but that's for another thread. What I want to ask is wether everyone imagined thier TF's as being bigger and cooler than they were when they were kids? Or did you just think of them as they were? Did you imagine Devestator and Monstructor as huge? Did you imagine Throttlebots to have legs, Did Jazz have knees? Were Arielbots as big as seekers? etc etc.

I think you had to imagine that certain Transformers were bigger/smaller than others considering how whacky the scale of those toys were! I always imagined that Ironhide and Ratchet had heads, but behind their windscreens - much like War Within Ironhide and Kup! I would pretend that their windscreens had HUD (Heads-Up Display) that would allow them to do cool things like targetting and give them a live feed with up-to-date battle information. I also used to imagine that the S.T.A.R.S. base was a looooooooot bigger than they actually were. Typically it was just the main room of the Ark where Teletran-1 was... or like the bridge on the U.S.S. Enterprise.

You would have to imagine that the Transformers were more articulated than they actually were... like when they'd be walking, I'd just be making them "hop" up and down as they moved (like Muppets) but in my mind's eye they would be taking strides. Same with say a Battlecharger or Throttlebot using their hands/arms...

I used to get annoyed because I could never transform them as fast as they did on the show. I used to get so thirsty continously making those transformation sounds.

I did the Astrotrain thing. When the Cons were supposed to board him, I placed their toys aside or behind me where I couldn't see them and pretended they had gone inside Astrotrain.

Hey Zed all those questions are past tense. I still do.

Also if I have any out about the house from being displayed for pics or played with an instant story starts taking form. Like when Movie Skyblast chased Universe Acid Storm to that deserted planet and they were both right low on energon and had to rely on each other for survival. Or my new Powerdashers now that are hanging with Fort Max Treebeard-and-Hobbit style.

i still dont know what to think of Actionmaster Devastator, maybe the nucleon downsized him micromaster style?

When i was a kid i had like 3 tfs so it wasn't really an issue for me.

i actually do pretend that the Throttlebots have legs, like in the comic and cartoon.
