To explain the joke further, "Chan" ("Chang" or "Zhang") is considered to be the most common surname in the world whereas "Mohammed" (Muhammed and other such variations) is considered to be the most common given name in the world. Hence the name "Mohammed Chan" would be a combination of the world's most common given and family names (but in a relatively unusual combination).
