Those prices are insane. I know there are expensive chess sets out there, but they generally look like they are worth the money. This looks like it should be available at Kmart.

It's very cool and very tempting but the price makes it hard to commit to without seeing the in-hand detail on them. Maybe I'm spoilt by all the shows I've been to where they had the prototypes on display to give comfort in what you're backing. The other thing that surprises me about this is Eaglemoss not simply committing to it like they do with other franchises or is their new marketing model? I'd be more likely to take it seriously if the company didn't have to tease it as a kickstarter.
I also find the Decepticon lineup a bit odd and agree with Griff that they could have made better use of the minibots as pawns.
I guess we'll see what comes of it
Was definitely taken aback when I saw the price, but it also looks like a pretty sizeable thing compared to other licensed chess sets I've seen so maybe it justifies it?
Definitely well above my grade tho lol
Has anyone looked into the DC and Marvel chess sets that they did?
Just running some quick numbers from their American DC chess set - https://en-us.eaglemoss.com/hero-col...omics/dc-chess
The standard price of $17 + $2.50 P&H (USD) means that a full set of 32 runs you $630 USD or $680 USD for a premium set (2 alternate pieces).
So basically the price is equivalent to their other sets, just in a different delivery module because they're less certain they could make the minimum threshold (noting people often don't complete whole sets of the single issue releases).
I did get the buy the Batman set from newsagents, probably cost about as much as this. But paying each fortnight/month was easier to handle. But also note, some pieces were less than stellar paint jobs. For a premium product and price, I would expect better.
