I won't go in circles with this so I will allow someone who is a Club member member to explain.
At the end of the day, particularly for Australians, It is very expensive.

Have you read the brochure?
EDIT: Brochure Excerpt (emphasis mine):
The Iacon Package ($285 for club members or $335 ppd for non-members) is for those who cannot attend the show and consists of the following:
* Shattered Glass Convention Set: A five-figure boxed set which includes bad guys Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Autobot Jazz, Goldbug, and good guys Starscream and Mini-con Razorclaw, all presented in an illustrated display box. Also included with the set is a certificate of authenticity, tech specs and figure weapons.

It doesn't change that I am not willing to pay $400+ for this set.
I have already acknowledged that there are other ways to get the set aside from Botcon, it doesn't change that I am personally not willing to justify the cost which is still high if you are not a Botcon attendee/Club member. You also have to include the shipping in that cost which is HIGH.
Many others will also have to pay that amount (perhaps more) regardless of the method used. At the end it is up to the individual to justify what the figures are worth to them but to me, it lacks appeal enough to justify the non Botcon attendee/Non member price regardless of where you get them from.

I don't mean to say that the price is not high. I just wanted to make sure you (or anyone else) understood that there were non-after-market methods of acquiring the set available to non-club members. Cheers.
