Quality is actually better as far as I have read... Takara one has better colours on the robot hands-down, but Hasbro fixed a weak rivet on the rotating leg panels (black in Takara, red in Hasbro) that tended to break easily. This was a crucial fix I reckon.

Also, Hasbro weapons and accessories have better paint apps, and you get Offshoot minicon. You don't get the trailer of course, but the figure is more Hot Rod than Rodimus Prime anyway.
