Thanks gamblor, guess before I even think about doing a fancy custom like that I should look into airbrushes!

I buy a bunch of stuff at a time so it works out to be more or less the same as buying stuff from a hobby store. Actually better as you use less of it, 1 bottle covers 3-4 model car bodies. My Meister is painted in Mazda Galaxy Gray.
This paint really needs to be airbrushed, if you try brush painting it'll look terrible, streaks everywhere and drys as soon as it touches the surface.
aaaaaaaaaactually - what kind of airbrush and compressor do you use?

    Bot mode sans head

    Here's my trusty Iwata HP-CS

    My old backup Aztec A7778

My compressor and moisture trap/regulator. I think the compressor is a clone of a Gunze or Iwata model. There's no way to control pressure on the compressor itself so I have to do it by adjusting the valve on the trap. I've had this for a few years now and it's still going strong.

Some of the paints I use. Tamiya/Gunze sprays, Gunze lacquers, Alclad metallics and Zero auto paints, plus metal/resin/plastic primers.

Very important safety stuff. I ordered a bulk lot of 3M filters back when the dollar was strong.

    I used this stuff link
I don't think I'll be using this stuff a lot, it sets in my airbrush and is a pain to clean out. The big plus though is that it's very hard and can withstand handling.
My regular clear is Finishers autoclear which I get from RainbowTen

I forgot to add this pic. The primer I tinted yellow to make the red stand out more (from what I've read anyway), and the windscreen I painted the underside in that prismatic colour.

I thought a bit of contrast was in order so I sprayed the back matt black.

Sideswipe has a facelift and prosthetic chin.
