Well it's been well over 36 hours and nobody's got it right.
The correct answer was that in "Divide And Conquer" Shockwave states that the space bridge will materialise in 72 billion astroseconds.

    Bonus Q answer: 1 breem = 0.001 (or 1/1000th) of an astrosecond

    Open floor

Ratchet denies involvement in creating the Dinobots after Optimus Prime declared that the Dinobots' cartoon origin was the most effing retarded thing he'd ever heard. (^_^) Dr. Smoov'd!

It's strange in that Hasbro & Marvel couldn't decide on the same foundations for the Dinos...

Maybe the Cartoon origins centered around light-hearted storylines while the Comic origins were supposed to be more gritty?

You mean Sunbow and Marvel. Although Transformers (and G.I. Joe) were produced by Marvel - hence why both Sunbow and Marvel logos appear in Transformers.

Remember that the comics came out before the cartoon and the two were always written independent of each other. The cartoon was very loosely based on the comics and basic TF mythos established by Marvel, but they were written by different writers who never consulted each other for their stories. Bob Budiansky and Simon Furman never had any influence on the cartoon and likewise writers like Marty Isenberg, Flint Dille, Dave Wise etc. never had any participation with the comics.

It's like that with all comic/cartoon franchises (with the exception of adaptations of course). It's not as if Spiderman comics are comparable with Spiderman cartoons or movies! The same goes with Transformers.

The comics were usually less campy and more "mature" because they're not restricted by as much censorship or syndication restrictions that the cartoon had. Also, with far less writers at the helm it meant that the stories were relatively far tighter in terms of continuity. Some G1 writers wrote stories without consulting pre-existing stories, which is why you get some seriously conflicting continuity flubs in the cartoon (e.g.: Megatron & Constructicons origins). In the comics it was mostly Bob Budiansky who controlled continuity. Furman would write around Budiansky's writings being careful not to write stories that would conflict with what Budiansky was writing. In effect, the UK comics were really expansions of the US comic universe (much like how the IDW movie comics like the Prequel and Reign of Starscream series are expansions of the movie universe). I've personally always preferred the G1 comics over the cartoon... IMO it's the "true" G1.

But this thread is purely for G1 US cartoon questions only. The other trivia thread is open for all things TF. (^_^)
