Great review! The finish on the red version I got is top quality paint. Not sure if you can tell with the silver. Also the weight of this thing! It's heavy thanks to the die-cast.
I really like the figure. The die cast torso and upper thighs were a bit of a concern initially as I feared it might affect balance. At first I thought it did, but I was mistransforming the legs. Which by the way has a pretty clever transformation. The semi-automoprh for the head is ok and the overall build is just quality. This figure just screams quality.
A few disappointments still arise of course. The front grille conversion has scratched a bit of paint on the front of the car. Also, like with most Alternator/Binaltechs, the arms are quite puny. But not small enough to make it look disproportioned. My main gripe is probably the placement of the arm. Like with Animated Ultra Magnus, it is located a little too far behind the head. you can't tell from a front view but it is noticeable. Also the back of the robot mode isn't the prettiest thing. Otherwise an excellent figure.
I was going to do a review for it but you beat me to it.
So here's some pics of the Red version that I got:

Nope, car-primes still dont do it for me but I definitely like the colours on the red one. Very striking. If they make more of these the small size will give collectors much display value.

Aaarh so photgenic.
I like the Alternities. They nice and cool, small Binaltechs. I thought the transformation would be more complex than what it actually is though. Still all excited now!

I got both the red and silver versions today. Opted to open the red and have a play with it.
Packaging - Love it!
The toy it's self, very nice figure. Nice solid design, somewhat easy transformation.
When Binaltech/Alternators were first released and we saw the first pics of Smokescreen I couldn't wait! Then I got Smokescreen and fell in love with the figure.
And I feel I would have had the same feeling with this figure had it been a character like Smokescreen, Bluestreak, or even Prowl.
But as a Convoy/Optimus Prime figure? No. Doesn't work for me. And that's the one thing I have against the figure.

Nice pics Tetsuwan. The macro on my camera doesn't seem to work all that well compared to the super close up's you had. Could be a combination of a lot of other things but I need to fiddle around with it more. It is just a consumer model camera.
With those pictures, I'm not keen on the silver specks in the paintjob of the silver version. So i'm glad I went with the red version.

This is a great toy! If anyone isn't buying this just cause it's Optimus Prime and not a better suited character, forget about that and get one!
I only have one minor complaint.. that is, the leg transformation squishes the pieces too tightly. On going back to car mode, the back windshield plastic has very tiny dents from the compression in robot mode.
