Transformers questions by newbies, and not-so-newbies

My question..one for the G1 fanatics -

I'm having trouble transforming trypticon into base mode. In particular step 3 (I can't get the "rampway" out) and step 5 (the "base" can't be pulled up). Any ideas?

Also, with the G1 Constructicon chrome drill bits / missiles, when the chrome is worn off - are the parts black or yellow underneath?

my g1 green and the g1.5 yellows accessories are all black in places were the chrome is worn

Care to elaborate with pics what you mean? Ive transformed trippy and giga only a couple of times without an instruction so I can't tell what exactly your having trouble with? the tail end with the double guns are the only ones that are really what I find very tight to pull out. other than that he's pretty much split and press the tab on his hip to spread the legs and 180º the head viola base mode.

I've managed to figure out how to get that tail ramp out, just requires a bit of extra muscle

Step 5 of base mode however says I have to pull up that base thing out of his chest (so it becomes a raised platform) to attach the large purple cannon. I can't get this piece out. As with all my new g1's though, i never try to force transformations out to avoid breaking anything. Do I just need to muscle it out as well?

hmmm the only import store i can think of is galaxy world above the markets. I thiink i saw soundwave there once.
