    Default Springer pic query

According to other sources, this is a scan of Springer from a Japanese art book. I know it's at least a couple of years old, but don't have an exact publication date. Anyone happen to know which book (or have a higher-quality scan of the relevant page)?

Step 5 of base mode however says I have to pull up that base thing out of his chest (so it becomes a raised platform) to attach the large purple cannon. I can't get this piece out. As with all my new g1's though, i never try to force transformations out to avoid breaking anything. Do I just need to muscle it out as well?

Here's the scan - step 5 on the far left.

yes a little elbow grease is needed on that one, CAREFUL elbow grease . It just pulls up, there is no switch or tab that you have to press for it.

Is the Headmaster series focused primarily on the Headmaster transformers? I bought the Madman Japanese series boxset expecting to see all the transformers but instead each episode seems focused on Headmaster transformers with the rare appearance of some of the oldies. Is this the same thing with all the other Japanese series?

Yes and it's the same for the all the Japanese series, but "Headmasters" still actually features old characters (Rodimus, Galvatron, Wheelie, Daniel etc) in major roles. The later series (Masterforce, Victory) don't show any of the characters from the G1 cartoon (except very rare cameos) and generally exclude anything not part of that year's toyline.

Its rather disappointing. I hope one day (I know wishful thinking!) someone will step up and start a new transformer series based on the G1 characters in the American series.

Headmasters is the closest you can get to that so far. The animation style is still very much like series 3 of the US cartoon, unlike the following Japanese series.

They are roughly the same size as the alternators/binaltech in both modes. Proly smaller by just a few millimeters. I've seen some video comparisons of him with Mirage/Skids/Sunstreaker. But that's only for HA BB though. HA Sideswipe seems to be a little bit shorter in bot mode than HA BB from the last youtube video I've seen.
