    I'm hoping Gok or someone else knows the answer to this cause it's bugged me for a long time.

    In the G1 show and most toys Red Alert is a "Fire Chief's" car (from a well funded Fire Department). But his function in the Autobots is a Security Chief something more associated with law enforcement.

    So why is he not always a Police Car (Binaltech toy) which would make more sense than a Fire Chiefs car?

    His pre-TF incarnarion (diaclone) was a Police car. Get it inCARnation But yeah he was a police car. That is the only explanation I can give, basic and based on the toys.

    They already had a cop, needed it to be from the emergency services so they could keep the lightbar, it was either fire or ambulance...

    I think they made the "right" choice, what kind of idiot would give a countach to a paramedic? Great response time, but lousy patient care facilities!

    Agreed but Prowl's techs say he is a military strategist, so shouldn't he be more Hound like in appearance Having said that each bot's personality are what they were on Cybertron, their Earth alt modes are what Teletran 1 went out and found for them.

    Out of curiosity... if 'generations' of toys were still being counted, which 'generation' would we be up to now? As far as I can tell, counting 'stopped' after G2.

    Yeah, BBTS is DEFINITELY slow at the moment.

    I've got one that took 6 days from entering the warehouse to actually leaving the warehouse.

    I had some other stuff come in the day after I'd done that (typical) and it's currently at day 4 without actually having left.

    They've also yet to reply to an enquiry I sent them two days ago, which is very odd for them.

    I understand they're at a bit of a crossroads right now, but this doesn't seem like a promising harbinger for the future. :/

    The way I would count is:

    BW as a continuation of G1, and AEC, Bayverse and Aligned each as a single gen per continuity (not separate Gens for each line) we are up to G7. But that's not counting lines with no TV show/movie associated with it.

    Considering that G2 was a continuation of G1, if we only counted franchises that were intended to be part of G1 we'd have:

    Beast Wars = G3
    Beast Machines = G4
    Binaltech = G5
    Classicsverse = G6
    Alternity = G7

    Don't forget Transformers Universe (2003) takes place about a week after Beast Machines ended.
