I am looking into authentic G1 Dinobots (box 'n all) but there appears to be a lot of KOs out there. Not even sure if there have been Reissues. Please help this newbie navigate through this mine field by providing facts, threads & links. Thanks.

If you want to avoid KO Dinobots consider getting the only actual reissues of them, the early 90's "Classics" line.

Unfortunately only 3 of them got released in that line but that packaging has never been KOed AFAIK.

The Classics reissues were all released in Australian stores, so I imagine they should be relatively easier to find in local markets etc. than say in N. America. I've personally found Classics reissues at fairs and markets a few times (including the Dinobots).

Unless it's MISB be careful and just don't assume that because it's in a classics gold box that the toy inside is a classics reissue It's fairly easy to tell e.g. lack of copyright stamp on the toy itself.

Thanks Sinnertwin & DeltaPrime. However, I'm having trouble accessing the info on the tfwiki site when I click on the links. It states that There is currently no text on this page. Do I need an account?

Also thanks Gok for your post. Looks like I'll be scouting fairs and markets to see what's out there.

I don't collect Masterpiece (too pricey for me) although I would very much like to, but I was wondering which of the masterpiece transformers to scale? As I understand it some of the earlier ones are a different scale. Correct me if I am wrong.

    From TFWiki

The Masterpiece G1 line began with Optimus Prime and variants of the mold (Ultra Magnus, Prime with Combat Deck, etc) before moving on to the Seekers and Megatron. This encompassed the first six years of the toyline. Unfortunately, the Prime mold was huge in comparison to the other characters, 2009's Grimlock was slightly undersized compared to the Seekers, and 2010 consisted of more redecos of previous molds.
In 2011, the line can be considered to have been rebooted; first with Rodimus Prime, and followed with a new-mold Optimus Prime scaled to Rodimus's height (as well as providing an overall better robot-mode aesthetic). This was followed by a extensively remolded "Coronation" Starscream, and the rate of releases increased significantly in 2012/2013, with characters being designed to the new scale. In this 2-year span, Takara released no less than 13 new characters: Sideswipe, Soundwave (and 5 of his minions), Sunstorm, Red Alert, Tigertrack, Prowl, Bluestreak, and Smokescreen, while Hasbro added Thundercracker and Acid Storm to the mix. At least 5 characters (2.5 new molds) are scheduled for 2014: Wheeljack, Bumblebee, G2 Sideswipe, Soundblaster (with new mold Ratbat) and an Ultra Magnus (redeco of Prime) with combining trailer.
In addition, Grimlock and "Coronation" Starscream were re-released for the Asian market in 2013.

Exactly how 'yellow' is MP-08's gold chest? It's quite hard to tell from pictures. Planning on getting the reissue from RK.
