I know - even Star Wars would have made more sense, and then Tiby could at least have explained that he did actually have Star Wars Transformers. I guess from The Collectors' perspective:

    1. Transformers, Doctor Who and James Bond all have rabid, collecting, geeky fanbases.
    2. Transformers and Doctor Who are both science fiction.
    3. After seeing Soundwave, Megatron and the Autobot cars there was a tenuous gadget/Walther guns/fast car Transformers/James Bond connection.

But it just jarred really badly. It was like if someone was there as an antique furniture collector and the hosts asked apropos of nothing, "so... have you thought about branching out into collecting cereal boxes or sea anemones?"

Still, this was light years beyond any previous Transformers mentions on the show. It was fantastic that they finally had someone who had an amazing collection and actually knew what he was talking about.

A freshly cut finger should hold the warm blood for a few mins so that should work...

Also to my previous question about security requirements, could you fill out the forms without proper locks, cabinets, etc and get away with it? I mean, how would they know? Do they do random checks?

But it wouldn't hold a pulse. But biometrics are so easy to defeat anyway.

Anyhoo, if you have a registered "prohibited" item, they have the right to inspect the premisis where it's registered to at any time.

But what if you display it in robot mode? I find it weird you can buy replica swords (which could do serious damage anyway) in gift shops and toy guns in toy shops but can't display a robot.

BTW, not having a go at anyone or the law. Just curious. I'd love to get MP Megs but i'd have to wait until i move house. I doubt the authorities would class a 4mm glass display cabinet in the lounge room as high security.

    Hi shokwave2,
If you do that, you are making a false declaration and will be in a world of pain if they inspect your premises. Please take this very seriously as there are significant jail terms involved.

Please browse the link in my sig to see what needs to be done.

I wouldn't even risk it Tiby. Just curious as to why displaying a robot toy in robot mode is considered dangerous, when there's firing toys out there that if handled incorrectly could injure a child.

I've checked out your website Tiby, just to get an idea of what to do when i do eventually purchase MP Megs. But as i said it won't be until i move house create a secure collection room.

Also Megatron was based on the Walther P38 U.N.C.L.E., a fictituous modified P38 from the TV series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", - a show about spies, secret agencies etc., much like James Bond. Ian Fleming (creator of 007) was also an executive producer for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. alongside Norman Felton (source).

Also, remember that she is probably not a fan of anything remotely similar to Transformers or Bond or anything like that. From a "non-geek" POV it's not that huge a leap.

Doesn't matter - still counts as far as the law's concerned. About 9 years ago there was a Transformers fan from Canberra who took my G1 Megatron toy, brought it with him to Canberra, and walked around with it in public in gun mode. He got tackled by security guards at a train station and at the airport. This was all before September 11. It's because of people like him that we have these laws that inconvenience the rest of us. (-_-)

As long as the display cabinet can be locked and the room that it's in satisfies security requirements, then I don't see any problem with it. The display unit that I store my Megatrons in are made from 4mm tempered glass and a door latch that you can padlock, and it's legally compliant.

I have the exact same cabinet! Although my lounge room is just inside my front door which is secured by a single deadlock and has a 1.5m x 2.5m sunroom window.

Did your Megatron get damaged by the tackle?

I'm not sure if a lounge room will suffice or if it needs to be in another room with a lock on that room's door. I suspect it's the latter but I'm not entirely sure. You might want to ask Tiby or the police.
