    BAH I say, BAH!

I signed up for Myspace, and everyone started using Facebook
I signed up for Facebook and now everyone is using Twitter!
I'm thinking that if I sign up to Twitter, everyone will move onto the next thing. Like Mybook, or Facespace or something where you can only do Pictures of yourself

You can pretty much do "Twitter" on Facebook. It will just be thrown in with everything else, or you can make a message to everyone that updates like a forum thread

Twitter is rubbish, all online social stuff is rubbish, I couldn't give two stuffs about what someone is doing

In saying that though, I do have myspace and facebook but haven't used myspace in about a year and facebook maybe once a fortnight haha

For the most part I agree - the trick is working out what it is good for (i.e. those things it does that actually add value to your life), and not being drawn into the dross. Facebook has been a great resource for catching up with old friends with whom one has lost contact, for instance, but there's a lot of timewasting stuff there as well.

I think Twitter could be a fine resource for alerting fellow Transfans to sightings in a realtime way. There is a lot of starf***ing nonsense on Twitter as well - I really don't feel the need to know whether P Diddy has just taken a dump in realtime.

Yeah, you're right, it does have a purpose, looking up old friends etc, blogs are good for an outlet, when used correctly I have no problem with these things. I just get sick of things like "Random facebook idiot: just cooked a stir fry, yummy!!" or "Random facebook idiot: omg twilight is liek so AWESOMEZZ!!1! he's so HOT!!!1!!11" and like you said, the random twitter stuff that "celebrities" think we care about

Facebook and Twitter aren't comparable. I sit on AIM/MSN all day and whatever status I have there typically says it all. I've occasionally jumped on twitter, but have little to say and get bored with most others' self-celebration. I get enough of that here

All the being said, I do think it's a great tool for sightings!
