Paramount's rights to the names as movie characters wouldn't free them up for use by Hasbro for use as action figures though. Hence why we've had discrepancies between movie character and toy names such as:Originally Posted by MV75
Jazz --> Autobot Jazz
Ratchet --> Autobot Ratchet
Frenzy --> Decepticon Frenzy
And even with the mix up of the names Devastator and Brawl between Paramount and Hasbro, Hasbro had to use "Decepticon Brawl" -- they couldn't just use "Brawl." And for RotF they're using "Constructicon Devastator" because they can't use "Devastator."
