How do you spot a dodgy one and how are they dodgy?

Just out of interest, how much did he retail for?

In hindsight after purchasing and experiencing so many, there are 2 things to look for:

    1. Note the circle. Try to find as small a gap as possible. Otherwise, it seems that when you attach the arms in alt mode, this gap is widened. If you have little to no gap here, you should have a pretty solid alt mode.

    2. Note the arrow. There was quite a variance in the level of burrs I saw, so look for a small one.

The above specimen is close to the best I've seen in both regards, although the picture might not communicate that. When in a shop comparing two, the differences should be obvious.

Darkwind - excellent. (Glad you made it over there well and safely.)

W-Gar was $22.99 USD plus tax. Jaydisc's description is spot on. They had two in store and the difference of the bumper's alignment was very clear.

As of April, I'm pretty sure Walmart price is the same as TRU and is USD 24.19 at Target.

Deluxes Animated/Uni at TRU were $10.99/$9.99, Walmart: $12.88, and Target, $14.19 (price hike in April for Target)

Thanks heaps for the info Jay, pitty we'll never actually get the chance to properly compare them side by side in a standard store.
