    Default spring loaded mint tfs

so we've talked about batteries in mint toys and springs in missile launches being loose to preserve them.

what about spring loaded tfs that transform using springs? for instance my bw ratrap is spring loaded along with many other basic figures. should i keep the springs loose but then that means i have to keep then out of their packaging, what if you want to keep them minty fresh?

Personally I am yet to see a Beast Wars basic such as Rattrap with a loose spring transformation. I think this is due to neither mode fully stressing the spring as a weapon missile may do.

I think in a way you just answered your own question.

I managed to find my Optimus Primal toy from the last millennium and his spring loaded rockets are able to shoot across a small room; and the plastic missle had been sitting in the launcher for more than a decade.

My G1 Slag missile launcher has worn over time to the point where it didn't even hold a missile properly... I tried opening it and replacing the spring with one from a pen... something snapped in the firing mechanism, but it's only a minor problem and now the missile flies.

I did that with all my Dinobot launchers too. It's one of the first things I do when I buy a vintage figure and the springs are worn.

Keep in mind that Hasbro intentionally weakened launcher springs in G1 as a matter of child safety. Beats having oversized missiles!
