I see the humour, but it just doesn't fit into an already-long film. The plot pauses for a few minutes for a joke that belongs in a different film genre.
Dude, I was right next to you and I laughed at that one
Again, right next to you... laughing
BTW, we did see Jolt in vehicle mode, although only in fairly early group shots of the Autobot vehicles. His appearance was awfully rushed though.
Eagerly waiting for Masterpiece Meister
Went and saw this movie in Gold Class with some non-Transformer fans.
For them it is was an adequate pop-corn flick, for me it was disappointing.
I treat the movies and the cartoon/toyline of G1 as they should be-seperate animals.
But I felt the first one was way better than the sequel. I think Bay got too ambitious with the story and even moreso with the action that the pacing was horrible, too much unnecessary comedic (if that!) dialogue/scenes, and too many plot holes/oversights.
I couldn't imagine watching this on an Imax screen as I originally intended to as the action sequences would have been so difficult to process and sensory overload would have fried my brains.
I would have as many others of you said, liked more characterisation of the bots. They wasted too much screen time on the spastic twins and Jetfire's whole introduction could have been condensed more.
Some moron writer tried to introduce a whole genre of bad comedy into this movie with the ball sack and phallic sexual innenduo jokes (e.g. Leo's pizza - "18 inches of meat") that just had no place here. They must have gotten the idiot who wrote Batman and Robin or Joel Schumacher was involved.
I thought the female Decepticon college student thing was stupid. The toy truck Decepticon humping the leg was stupid and crap.
I see the need for humans to be involved in the movie but not at the expense of screen time for the bots. However, if Bay wastes screen time on the idiot twins what does it matter?
Too many cheap deaths and resurrections of Decepticons just annoyed me. Although I loved the idea of how one Deception got cannibalised by the others for parts and his spark to resurrect Megatron. I thought that was a nice touch and insight on the ruthlessness of these guys.
I know this is the G1 fan in me when I just hated the idea of Megatron answering to someone else, even to the point he would bend down on knee in servitude.
How does Optimus Prime in the first movie get his ass kicked so easily that you think Megatron is far superior to him yet in this one, he is taking on Megatron and co easily before biting it. He even gives one the dirt nap before succumbing to Megatron's blade.
The combiners= sucked big time.
I didn't feel I got ripped off paying for my movie ticket, but I didn't feel it was worth seeing again or recommending to others. 5/10 IMHO.
I was very, very disapointed by ROTF. To quote myself from other sites:
The action was great and so was the animation, but this is something I love deeply - if the film hadn't been Transformers I would have enjoyed it for the pretty pretty lights and explosions. But it was Transformers and it just didn't meet my standards no matter how hard I tried to like it. In the first film I understood they needed some human time because their audience hadn't seen Transformers and needed some into, but Bay promised us more screentime for the 'bots. I was wrong to believe that screentime may have been devoted to, y'know, distinguishing them from one and other. But no, it was watching them be blown up.
Devastator went down too easilly. Megatron wasn't a strong enough character. Bumblebee was underused. Soundwave and Ravage were underused. *Insert every Autobot name here* didn't get enough screentime. The Original Primes weren't all that bright and their plan made no sense.
ALSO; this is probably irrelevent to everything and wtf was Bay thinking when putting it in, but....WHERE DID STARSCREAM GET ALL THOSE SPARKLINGS (Hatchlings?) FROM? Because as much as the fangirl in me would giggle hysterically if it were canon, I doubt he's popping them out by himself.
LOL.
I also found myself mulling that one over.
Well you would hope the con's used and abused the allspark before Prime managed to 'express post' it to earth. Otherwise, if they can 'reproduce' and just create more of themselves on a whim, kind of invalidates the entire significance and purpose of the allspark, the war... and the entire plot of the first movie.![]()
