Haven't done any transformers but I did make 1000+ garage kits, monsters and movie stuff professionally for a few years. I used a conventional types for art prior to doing that Stuff but found for figures an Aztek was better.
There not as easy to damage quick to stop and start (clean). They used to have a lifetime warrenty but not sure now.
You can do finer work on conventional ones, you can even shave the tip for fine stuff but I can't really see it being useful on toys. I used to paint with a mix of artist acrylic and model paint thinner but they are made for any model paint.
