Though dilution of prices can be a benefit to a number of collectors (particularly those who collect everything; not just g1), business for a bucketload of people on ebay and independent websites really takes a pounding. I know of a few sellers on the bay that rely on their original g1 sales to pay the bills. Additionally, this affects heaps of 80's g1 purists by reducing the value of their collections - which I'm sure they not only treat as a hobby but as an asset as well.

Ok I'm just rambling bc I don't like encores or reissues lol, but man I hope they stick to re-releasing the japanese g1's for the next million years

Like a Ratbat would have used to cost heaps but will now be fairly cheap b/c they've re-issued the legit one. Dilution of prices is no issue to me personally as ultimately I just want the toy. It doesn't bother me though I think the quantity sitting there doing nothing will as I can see how if you have a favourite nold and then you see it shelf-warm you get a bit sad no one's sharing the love.

Interesting choice for it to be something not from the first few years. A promising sign though for reissues of Headmasters (and Jrs) and Godmasters.
Thanks Paul. I had a look at the photos and he actually looks pretty cool!

I think by 1991 standards he's awesome! He's basically a massive Optimus Prime toy that transforms into a truck (which can roll on battery-operated treads) and also transforms into a Micromaster battle station play set which you can attach to other Micromaster playsets (e.g. stations, bases etc.)! It also comes with a Micro Trailer which can be stored inside.

Micromaster Hot Rod is a neat little figure; it's interesting to see how 1991 G1 designers have interpreted a large boxed figure from 1986 and re-engineered it as a Micromaster. Similar to how we now admire the re-engineering of larger toys into Legends, you think, "Wow, it's cool how they did that." Obviously the toy isn't as well made as contemporary legends because the toy is 18 years old now (the transformation scheme is the same as say Swindler or Blackjack) - but within the context of the time it's like comparing a large figure w/ a Legends.

    From Seibertron.com

The possibility of an Encore #20 Star Convoy has ended......it is clear that Encore #20 will not be Star Convoy or Devastator.
