My apologies everyone, especially G1Optimal![]()
Did some more research as opposed to speculating and it seems the PSU is still built into the unit... still dunno how they managed to get the thing to lose 2kgs though...
Here's a link to Gamespot which shows one being unpacked and displays the box's contents.... no external PSU!

not a problem about the 2nd post thing..
The only reasons, i can only logically think of is mostly due to the size..
- Less materials used, becuase of the "shirking" of the Components/System.
- Probably, dose not need as much of a cooling system as the "phat" because of the small size.
- Also, something to do with smaller Chipsets (45nm on the slim apparantly ) using less power therefore being cooler "or something"

Also, I just noticed "this" video on au.ign
PS3 Slim Unboxing
and dose not look like there is one.. guess this answers that question .
Edit:

So who's gonna get a new slimline one?
I'm thinking about it since my original PS3 is coming on 3 years old in December.![]()
Possibly me and my Brother...![]()
Group buy anyone?![]()
I just checked the one I have and its limited to 220-240 volts, so it wouldn't work in Japan/America.
I will probably get a slimline, haven't got one of my own yet. I hear rumours of backwards compatability through Emulation as well...
I see they are removing the option to use other operating systems on the slim. Bye bye Linux....
