Maps are problematic seeing as how streets are not numbered. Also stock varies. I have a map of Denden town on a flyer. Ill get someone to scan it in and make a jpeg of it when I get back. Akiba is more all over the place harder to map, also the stock in the second hand stores is totaly random.

    Nope, nope and nope.

I did see Deathzaurus and Japanese Fort Max boxed though, but they were at least a grand.

On the non toy front Nikko is another place you can visit as a day trip from Tokyo. I went to the Shrine there the most ornate in Japan as well as Edo Town, which is like a recreation of an Edo village ala old Sydney town when it exsisted. Both were worth the trip from a cultural and entertainment perspective respectively. Hilight for me was the ninja show. A perfectly correographed Ninja battle with sound effects and disco lights. Kinda like watching Monkey Magic live.

Is it worth the ticket price? I was keen on visiting Edo Wonderland but was somewhat wary of the expense.

Depends, It`s hefty at about $55 so more like the cost of that sort of thing in Australia, and really pricey fro Japan.

On the other hand your not going to find an Edo Wonderland anywhere else so I just chalked it up to holiday exspense. So if your peny pinching then no, but if you are having a holiday yes. Id rather go there than some lame generic theme park or Disneyland.

Yesterday I went to Kamakura. Another easy one day trip from Tokyo for those going to Japan who want to do cultural or nature stuff as well as shopping. You can buy a one day pass to Kamakura and back from Shinjuku station (about 1900yen) it also gives you unlimited use of local rail and light rail in Kamakura for that day. Kamakura is full of temples and shrines almost like a lesser Kyoto. It is famous for its giant Buddha as well as several other world heritage temples. Although it isn`t one of the more famous temples, one has caves full of mnay carved stone Buddhas lit by candles, but people of average height cannot stay long lest they suffer back damage.

There is also hiking trails, probably the most stupid thing I`ve done this holiday (aside from splurging on toys) was attempt one of the hiking trails shortly after rain. I made it about 2 quarters of the way before it became just to risky and muddy to continue. I almost lost my shoes and got rather muddy. Must have been terrifying for the usually immaculately clean Japanese.

I found a Mandarake in Akiharbarra, it has 8 floors, and two floors of toys, one has power rangers and masked rider toys, the other collectors stuff including Transformers. I will try and Mark this one on the mpa when I get back cause there were heaps of TF, including old stuff, Old stuff even Mega Zarrak was very not cheap though.

hey, Madarake Akihabara was on kurdt_the_goat's map. It was the first place I went to when I was in Toyko earlier this year. The google map that he provided to me already has all these places marked out. Don't need to do double work.

Ah, that fabled Minerva. I heard the HK-ers talk about it when I was in HK in April; I heard the Singaporeans talk about it when I was in SG; I heard the Americans talk about it on TFW2005 and yet more Singaporeans talk about it. Horribly yellowed Minerva in bad box right?

Ah good, cause I dont like mapping places, I work on instinct.

And yeah that is probably the Minerva, honestly I saw the price tag and lost interest. The rare count is now Minerva, Deathzaurus, Mega Zarrack and Japanese Fort Max all at over a grand.

I bought my D-93 for $350 in 2007 and I thought that was pushing the envelop. I can't believe that Mega Zarak is over a grand. It is just Scorponok in a different box.
