Default Price Check: "USA" Hasbro Commemorative Sunstorm

    Hi Guys,

I've got a MISB Commemorative Sunstorm or "USA Sunstorm" as its sometimes known in a C9(IMO) box. Single taped.

I'm hard pressed on what i could sell in order to get other TF i've got my eye on so i'm just wondering if this is worth anything?

It's not a box swap. There are a few floating around members collections but its not known how many exist and if this was an unreleased sample or how they came to be.

Let me know what you think, open to EOI also

    Cheers

    Linton

Did you get this from the same place as the mini-seekers? The multilingual text suggests it is not a USA edition.

Um... is that an E-Hobby Sunstorm that someone's put in a Starscream box?

If it's not a bootleg or hoax then maybe a factory-worker/production line error? Bizarre.

no its not a box swap. the theory is that its an unreleased test run. maybe 1 case produced. from what i've ready anyway.

its identical to e-hobby release. and apparently it has the short missiles with a matching tray where as the released seekers had long missiles.

I've seen other Comm. Edition toys from Europe in the multilingual text boxes but this is the first time I've seen a Sunstorm.

Either way I don't think it's worth any more than a Jp release Sunstorm. I think any value is also lost by it being so rare that people will be naturally a little sus on it.

this is true, but i figure someone could be into weird rare variants and this may be valuable to them

I see. Sadly in this case I would think that if it did have long missiles, it would make it more valuable, since it would help authenticate the release and make the toy unique. In terms of uniqueness, I've only found one other of these on the internet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulfri...7594327955633/. I would say that now is probably not the best time to sell it, with rereleased Sunstorms so readily available. And since it's not a recognised release it's really only as valuable as anyone is willing to pay for it, which is unfortunately hard to gauge. How much were you willing to pay for it in the first place? I would think it would still be about the same.

Why not send it to AFA? If they box it, it becomes legit to collectors and since it's so rare it could command a very high end price. It might be a bit of a gamble but it could pay off big time.
