one of the things i dont like about the bidder protection they use now, if i saw someone i knew bidding on an item i most likley would of left the item alone......

Half Rant:

Ive been looking for this upgrade set for a while and while no online retailers have it (that I can find), Im just amazed and kind of pissed at EBay.. surprise, surprise.

Ignoring the massive shipping cost:

One can argue Ebay determines the market price, but still- imo i think those listing prices are massively inflated, considering the original pricing for the upgrade kit is around 50 US and estimating the ROTF superion- about 40US. (RK sells it at this price currently, exclusive of shipping).

And also amazed at the seller's starting bid- he/she expects it to go higher...

For those prices, I dont think I will be obtaining this piece, ever.

I give up...

Hey buddy - i can empathize with your concerns.
One way around this is to actually negotiate with the seller. You'll find you'll can get away with reducing this (I've used bargaining techniques).

Another way i've worked around this is to reduce the sellers cost to ebay. to recreate the bid and make it available to me only (private bid). I then asked him to increase the shipping price and decrease the sale price; ultimately this reduces the price he pays to ebay.

Not that i recommend it, but i've made transaction outside of ebay - using paypal only.
