Yep - watching these very closely!

This is one of those rare instances when I simply DO NOT care what price TRU will charge... I'll be grabbing these as soon as I see them!

Re their names... I don't care if they call them Buggy, Sluggy and Fugly just as long as I get them! I'm excited that Kickback will have pointy wings too (at least, according to what we've seen so far)!

That'd ruin the rhyme, though. Fuggy is much more gooder

This is kool!!! But AU hasbro will price them probably at $70, you can get MINT originals for under $50 complete so I'd say pass!

Though hardly surprising considering that Takara reissued them back in 2005.

I find reissues are always cheaper than purchasing complete G1s of the same in MISB or near MISB condition. How much would a complete MISB G1 Perceptor, Bombshell, Kickback and Shrapnel set you back? The TFC Insecticons sold for 3500JPY ($45) and Autobot Perceptor for 3800JPY ($48), or a total of 7300JPY ($93) [currency conversions according to XE]
And don't forget that TFC reissues come with data file cards and the Insecticons came with Energon cubes.

The issue with "Slag" had nothing to do with copyright/trademark issues though.
    From TFwiki:
"Hasbro holds the United States trademark for "Slag" unopposed, and renewed it as recently as Xmas 2007."

I think the new names suck, but I cbb ranting since I don't care about these reissues in the slightest.

I know, that is why I think its more to do with modern extremist political correctness more than a trademark issue. The could have easily gotten around the names by adding 'Decepticon' or 'Insecticon' before the name.

Hmmm... maybe but I suspect not. Hasbro's long lost the rights for Shrapnel because Robot Heroes Shrapnel was called Insecticon. While "Sharpshot" still royally sucks, it does suck less than Insecticon. Maybe. At least with "Hardshell" they're still trying to make _some_ kind of effort to at least preserve part of the original Bombshell name.

Quite frankly if they're trying to avoid any names related to war or violence then they would need to stop using a LOT of old skool Transformer and G.I. Joe names like Devastator, Rampage, Brawl etc.

This reminds me of how Beast Wars was called "Beasties" in Canada because they didn't want the word "war" in the childrens' TV show, and how UK censors thought the word "ninja" was too violent so TMNT were called TMHT* there. If you're right then this just another reason why I've never liked how Hasbro keep insisting on marketing G1 reissues at children, unlike Takara(TOMY) who directly market it to adults. (-_-)

Isn't that why Hasbro won't use Wheeljack? Because it has a negative connotation?!

And let's not forget how "GoBots" was considered offensive in Australia, so they called them "Machine Men" instead!

We have seen a lot of inconsistency in upholding names over the years, some are judged as Politically incorrect while others where the same logic should apply happen to be ignored. Wheeljack is a good example as Robzy mentioned.

Due to incidents as that of the Wheeljack name and others I have a feeling that a name is considered to be 'bad' not because of some policy system or structure but more to do with the whims of the individual that happens to be in charge at the time. He thinks its offensive or bad so it doesn't happen but if that guy had not been present at that moment in time, there would have been no issue.
