Yes, I've been thinking about that too. I know Transformers were affiliated with Marvel in the early days, but if having a comic character called Bombshell is a problem now, surely it would have been a problem back when the Insecticons first came out in the 80's?

(Although I guess maybe Marvel's human Bombshell wasn't worth trademarking, while DC feels that theirs is.)

Maybe its like Slag. His name wasn't a problem back then despite him being a prominent character in Marvel UK but for some reason, it is a problem now.

4 - Is there still going to be a second wave of universe special editions being produced?

For 2009 we have plans to release the G1 Commemorative Insecticons and Perceptor (TRU Australia have at this stage declinded these exclusives however so unlikely). Past that, we have not announced any other re-releases at this time.

Cheers (I really should read those Q&As every now and then)

    Well, that's a disappointing decision...

This is kool!!! But AU hasbro will price them probably at $70, you can get MINT originals for under $50 complete so I'd say pass!

Though hardly surprising considering that Takara reissued them back in 2005.

I find reissues are always cheaper than purchasing complete G1s of the same in MISB or near MISB condition. How much would a complete MISB G1 Perceptor, Bombshell, Kickback and Shrapnel set you back? The TFC Insecticons sold for 3500JPY ($45) and Autobot Perceptor for 3800JPY ($48), or a total of 7300JPY ($93) [currency conversions according to XE]
And don't forget that TFC reissues come with data file cards and the Insecticons came with Energon cubes.

The issue with "Slag" had nothing to do with copyright/trademark issues though.
    From TFwiki:
"Hasbro holds the United States trademark for "Slag" unopposed, and renewed it as recently as Xmas 2007."

I think the new names suck, but I cbb ranting since I don't care about these reissues in the slightest.
