Default Countries with high toy prices

So in your experience, have you visited any country with high toy prices?

This long weekend, my wife and I went to Noumea, capital of New Caledonia.

    The toy prices were outrageous.

All TF figures (Universe, Animated, etc.) were approximately twice the RRP of Australian equivalents (e.g. Universe Hound w/ Ravage selling for around 60 AUD). Same thing with LEGO sets.

The other thing I noticed was, the shop was selling knock-off Alternator Prowls, for approximately 60 AUD each.

I was wondering why it had such crazy prices, and my guesses are:

    - Remote location and small population, probably resulting in higher shipping prices
    - Relatively expensive prices of other products and services (a burger that would cost 7 bucks here would be around 10AUD there)

Hmmm, not a good place to hunt for toys then. I haven't gone to any other country except here and Phils. But Phils have equal to cheaper pricing in my experience.
