Question for anyone that imports games - have you ever imported a game that was refused classification here in Australia and had it seized at customs?

I've asked this of a few mates already and no one has experienced this.

I have imported a number of japanese games that, although not likely to get refused classification, managed to get through. But the fact they haven't been rated theoretically makes them 'illegal' per se...

Coooooool, so a game (We Dare) that promotes sexual partner swapping, kinky games, spanking, and encourages same sex simulation, BUT, MK 9 is banned due to violence?

I believe Im ready to give up my citizenship...

Hmm, 'tis indeed a funny old world. Maybe there is some unlockable (s)extra mode in there...

I've heard differently. From what I have been told because it's just an advisory (refused classification) it cannot be enforced aside from retailers being banned from selling it. The ban itself does not apply to an individual obtaining it by other methods e.g. importing, and therefore not illegal to own.

It's pretty damn rare to actually have a game seized, but it can happen.

I imported Silent Hill: Homecoming from the US while it was banned in OZ. Arrived without any dramas.

It all comes down to how unlucky you are if Customs decides to randomly open the box and check the game. I have not heard of unclassified games getting picked up by customs.

When manhunt was first approved with an MA15+, then banned after some complaints, people were asked to destroy their copies if they had them previously (yeh right, like thats gonna happen).

You could be absolutely correct and I wouldn't take what I said as being gospel truth; it's only what I have heard. I am by no means a legal expert

Warner Bros to resubmit Mortal Kombat to Classification board.

As they should. I bet it's fairly mild compared to some other things that have gotten through. I just hate the lack of an R rating, but moreso I hate the inconsistencies.

I was looking at Melbourne import store to buy Marvel vs Capcom 3 but they only had a Asian version (and for $75 I thought I may as well wait for a sale price at JB and get a local one!)

I'm getting both and I'll be starting white with oshawott and black with snivy, I'm not a big fan of tepig.

Have you not cleared heartgold because you've been busy or because you've lost interest?
