But I do think galvatron is going to take over as leader of the cons. Megatron is apparently dead and if they weren't going to use galvatron I dont think they would of given him a story in ahm
I'm simultaneously very interested, yet very scared, to see what would be involved in Maxim Dinobots.

Although regarding leaders, the teasers indicate some sort of leadership spill to ccur over a couple of issues which shakes things up a little. The Decepticons (even though very little has been seen of them) seem to be a sort of disparate group without Megatron's strong personality to unify them. The Autobots too seem to be splintering without Optimus there to guide them, leading to a situation similar to how it was in War Within: Age of Wrath.

Seibertron has an interview with Andy Schmidt, which can be seen here, which seems to indicate that the business with Galvatron has big implications much later in the story (ie: two-three arcs away) and so will not be seen in the near future, meaning it's going to be unlikely he'll have a role in the Decepticon leadership spill (which is a good thing when you remember that Galvatron isn't even a Decepticon in the IDW canon).

Since when has what was previously written and established really mattered to new IDW writers?
IDW cannot rewarm and reuse the same old G1 stories unless Galvatron becomes the Decepticon leader...

I hope they can get past the splinter factions, they have kinda done it already with Grimlock and his Dynobots being a law unto themselves, Ultra Magnus wearing an Autobot badge but not really being a typical Autobot, Prowl, Jazz, Hound, Jetfire and numerous other Autobots being leaders of their own units kinds dilutes the need for a Prime to begin with.

Personally I'd like to see the Prowl story from the AHM Coda get more fleshing out in later issues, and I bet Jetfire has been doing some tinkering too...

They also seem to be ignoring the fact that the according to AHM the Decepticons won the war, what happened on Earth suposedly happened all over the galaxy, the Autobots were supposed to be routed, driven into hiding. However it now seems because Prime won on earth and Spike killed Megatron the Autobots won. Apparently those were the hidden victory conditions of the Cybertronian war, and now the Deceps have wandered off, or so it seems.

Its just like Star Wars Return of the Jedi, they acchieved the instant win condition, as seen starting from .26 of this clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEzcrfJ667E

The Expanded Universe actually has the scenario that the Empire doesn't immediately fall and the remaining Imperial Forces are fittingly refered to as the Imperial remnants.

Of course, no matter how awesome the expanded Universe is with situations and characters - Lucas has disown it because its not "My Star Wars".

They haven't really shown much off-world activity. It has all been on earth so far. Give it a couple of issues before they start showing elsewhere. They still have to set up the current situation

Also, it is said that the Emperor was using force battle meditation to co-ordinate the imperial forces. With his loss they would have been thrown into a mess. Not to mention how demoralizing losing the death star would have been

The Empire looses Death Stars all the time, surely it was more demoralizing having elite troops defeated by teddy bears.
