You have to wonder though, why after all these years are they finally bringing out a fully chromed and colour accurate KO? I suspect Encore 20.
Well, I'd like to hold that hope anyway.Yea, I know, they're individual and not a giftbox.

It's not colour accurate. They're still using that bright "lolly" green which is quite different from the duller green on the original. It is a more authentic looking but still not perfect looking counterfeit.
Unfortunately there are also gift sets available - one made by Zhong Jin and the other Kidi Toys. These were released a while back and replicated the chrome and metal parts.
The good news is that if they (Constructicons) were ever released in the Encore line as a gift set, the packaging would be substantially different to the KO's as these are an outright, but poorly executed, copy of the original US gift set released in '85.

I must say these KO's are getting better and better.
It is already hard to distinguish when buying online, now it is reaching the point where it will be hard in person...
5FDP, I replied here from the April acquisitions thread.
You were right. After careful inspection when I got home, I found the the MOC Hook I bought is indeed a KO.
I include comparison pics here:
Picture of the MOC Hook I recently purchased:
Picture of a knock-off MOC Hook from the auction site selling these KOs:
This is why I think my Hook is a KO:
(1) You were right in that in both pictures, the ASST number is missing from the cardback.
(2) I noticed that the KO Hook is missing his chest factory applied sticker just like the Hook I have (that is the part most unlikely to be removed or damaged).
(3) The bubble for my Hook came clean off the cardback because the glue just dried off. And this is typical of all KO versions of Transformers.
(4) On closer inspection, the Hook toy itself is rather poorly constructed compared with my other Constructicons (all of which have the ASST number on their cardbacks) which I know to be definitely genuine and not KO.
The above backs your initial post here.
Wow! Sorry to hear about the KO. I was reading how excited you were of having acquired them.
I'm pretty sad about it too. Now I have to continue looking again. I've emailed the seller to see what he can do. I don't want any KOs in my collection.
I've been really careless this time. Should have checked it out more carefully.![]()
Sorry to hear that HD. I know how you are with your collection and how proud you are of all your original G1 pieces. I thought you would want to know.
The upside of this is that you've found out now rather than later when prices will be higher for a legit one.
Just out of curiosity, does the seller have other KO's for sale?

Gee that is expensive for a KO.
I remember last year, at the Brisbane Exhibition (Show), I bought some dodgy KO's that were not badged as Transformer Devastators.
I got them for $20 so I was not too concerned.
Although I would love to buy a Re-issue Devastator if and when released.
(sorry late reply, been out of the country and still am)
Seller was fine. Said to send him back the item and he would give me a full refund. I think he has other Constructicons on cardbacks for sale at the same time I bought Hook. He says that he's bought this lot of stuff from eBay a couple of months ago himself...
