Well I'd put it more down to Nick Roche than IDW. So coincidence? I say no.

Well I read the first three issues today. As a one off miniseries it's really quite enjoyable if quite thin on the ground for plot and characterisation.

I don't think its thin in any of those points. It's the best TF story in many years! As mentioned, despite Rotorstorm having such a 'short' life, we did get to know him enough to feel the shock so the writer is doing his job.

Roche is a skilled writer - He know how to push the right buttons to move the story along and keep your interest.

its quite a shocking series to read.
i didnt expect to see that much killing.
poor fort max...didn't stand a chance.

damn cliff hangers!!! i wanna know what happens next!!!

its a good thing i already own a G1 overlord cos i suspect the popularity of this comic will further inflate his value making him much harder to acquire. similar with what happened to monstructor. - just a theory.

Really? Random mass killings happened a lot in the G1 Marvel comics. It was a great way for Hasbro to remove toys that were no longer currently on sale from continuity and clear way for new toys to take the spotlight. Underbase Saga anyone?

    "Oh noes~1!! I'm a 1985 figure, I don't stand a chance in this fight!"

Although Fort Max's maiming was particularly disturbing. At least I read it as an adult this time... seeing Straxus rip off Scrounge's arm or Galvatron ripping Fort Max's circuits out with his teeth as a kid freaked me out. It's amazing the amount of violence they can get away with in Transformers cos they're robots! Just look at Waspinator! If that happened in any other cartoon (like say, South Park) it'd be rated M!

Wouldn't surprise me. Just as well Overlord's not on my priority wants list! I think it's interesting how this Overlord (persona) is actually Hasbro's Overlord and not Takara's. AFAIK Hasbro's Overlord has never had a canonical appearance before.

I can't see Pyro living much longer, he'll do a Prime and sacrifice himself. I'll blame Hot Rod too

Yep...seeing pointblank headshots and blood/hydraulics splatter is new to me. but then again, i havent read as much comics compared to you guys...

Fort max being maimed is deeply disturbing, mainly due to my personal fondness for the character/toy.

Guzzle will be the next to go.

He's gotten the most "gung-ho" pagetime since Rotorstorm's death.

This is what IDW should be giving every single one of their current and future writers to indicate the kind of well written work they want in the future (pacing, character development and continuity wise at least.)

This and Maximum Dinobots almost make up for AHM and LSotW is far more interesting than the ongoing.

Except in modern TF comics, it's "Oh noes I'm not a 1985 figure, I'm prolly in this comic so I can be killed off"

    Death to the 85's!!!!!!!
